In Christ You Are A Force To Be Reckoned With

Luke 10:19  (NASB)

19 Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing will injure you.

In Luke 10:19 Jesus tells His disciples that He has given them authority over all the power of the enemy, and that nothing will injure them.

Let’s break it down:

  • power = ability
  • enemy = Satan and all his demons (fallen angels)
  • nothing will injure you = Nothing will injure you – if you believe it.

Renew (meditate on and let this sink in) your mind on this scripture, and you will find that you will begin to see that, in the name of Jesus, you have authority over Satan, all his devils, and every thing he has created that you would not find in Heaven.   For example, sickness, disease, pain, suffering, poverty, bondage, rejection, death…..etc.

“Wait” you say, “Jesus told his disciples this.  That was a long time ago, but I have not hear God tell me I had any authority over sickness and disease.  Even if it still existed today, it would only be Pastors and people like that would have that.”

Good question, but that would be a wrong understanding.   The truth is that in the Great Commission, Jesus told His disciples to continue on and make disciples of all nations (the world), teaching them to observe all that He had already commanded them:

Matthew 28:16-20 (NASB)   The Great Commission

16 But the eleven disciples proceeded to Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had designated. 17 When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some were doubtful. 18 And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

What did Jesus command them to do?   Various things, one of which is Matthew 10:8:

Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons. Freely you received, freely give.

Mark 12:30-31  (NASB)

30 and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ 31 The second is this, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”

So there’s really no excuse.  We are on the hook.  We should realize as believers that this is the least we can do, to do God’s Will upon this earth by spreading the Good News and believing in God for signs and miracles to convert the unbelievers into believers by the laying on of hands and seeing the sick recover.

Mark 16:17-18 (NASB)God's Army

17 These signs will accompany those who have believed: in My name they will cast out demons, they will speak with new tongues; 18 they will pick up serpents, and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

Notice how in Mark 16:17, Jesus mentions “those who have believed”.   This means any believer in Jesus, not just those who go to church or serve in church.

Also notice in verse 17 there is mention of a sick person being laid hands on by “those who have believed”.  So, there is a believer and a sick person.   The believer is called a believer because he/she believes in Jesus, and also to be able to do those things which Jesus says they can do.   The believer is not the sick person in this passage.   A believer should not get sick, since they should believe that by Jesus’ stripes, they are already healed.  If the believer truly believes that fact their bodies should have already lined up with the Word of God.   In addition, do you remember the end of Luke 10:19 at the beginning of this article?  “Nothing will injure you”.

A believer who never gets sick is a sign that they have had their mind renewed regarding divine healing and God’s Will on this subject.  A believer who lays hands and sees the sick recover, even if it takes a period of time, is a sign that their mind is becoming more and more renewed in this area, and, that they have accepted that the devil is the one who authored the sickness and must be stopped (John 10:10).

In Christ You Are A Force To Be Reckoned With

As a believer in Christ, you are a force to be reckoned with!   You have all you need inside you, God, including His Holy Spirit, just waiting for you to step out so that signs and wonders follow your believing and your use of your faith when laying hands and all sorts of other things for God’s well deserved Glory.

Remember, it’s not you, but it’s you allowing God to flow his power through you for the benefit of the other person.   It’s you and I that need to use our faith to believe God’s Word, and simply let God do the rest.  The more you renew your mind to the Word of God, the more of God’s power can flow through you, and the clearer you will hear His voice.   That’s because your mind becomes less carnal as it becomes more renewed when reading God’s Word.  The only part of your mind the enemy can influence you is the carnal part.   It stands to reason why God wants us to grow up into Jesus, Amen?  We are IN this world, but not OF this world.
