Ignorance of the Truth

Colossians 1:16 (KJV)

16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:

17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

WE (the human species) failed to trust in God at the tree in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 3:6) while JESUS died for us (while we were yet sinners – Romans 5:8) on the Cross (1 Peter 3:18).

WE decided to obey satan the evil tempter and deceiver in the face of our creator’s warning against such an act while JESUS selflessly went to the whipping post for our healing, and to the Cross for the redemption and reconciliation of humankind.

Genesis 2:16-17 KJV

16 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:

17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

This selfish act by our ancestors Adam and Eve caused (1) them, (2) us, and (3) the earth to all fall (since everything we were given dominion over fell with us).

It caused us all to have a different father (the father of lies) instead of God Himself (see John 8:44-45; 1 John 3:10). If you have not yet given your life to Jesus, satan is still your father. Satan however is powerless when it comes to you accepting Jesus. He will do all he can to keep you blinded as long as possible to prevent you from receiving or believing in the truth (2 Corinthians 4:4).

John 8:44-45 (KJV)

44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

45 And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not.

And yet this act of selfishness by Adam and Eve caused the selfless act of the LOVE OF THE FATHER (YAHWEH) to send His only begotten Son JESUS to the Cross, suffering persecution and tremendous pain being lashed by the Romans at the whipping post and being crucified at the Cross.

Unbeknownst to many, the ignorant person does not get a pass into heaven by believing that it was someone else who ate of the tree, or that it wasn’t their fault someone else messed up before them. Thus, ignorance does not equal automatic salvation. Ignorance is not God’s fault, but our own.

Ignorance is not caused by God but by a person rejecting of God’s scripture (His Word):

Hosea 4:6 (KJV)

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge,

God in his mercy provided His Son Jesus to come to mankind’s rescue (2 Corinthians 5:21), and we are still allowed a path to becoming one of God’s people (a Son) and citizenship of heaven even though we didn’t and never could earn the benefit.

So, The God of Abraham Isaac and Jacob DESERVES our hearts and our entire life since he paid a price for it (1 Corinthians 6:10).

God loves you so much, even while we do not deserve him or salvation due to man’s fall at the tree (see Genesis 3:6). God’s creation deserves nothing less than the eternal hell that is destined for those who do not believe in JESUS by the time they breathe their last.

In the midst of the indulgence of sin by God’s creation, the Word of God says that God takes pleasure in his people (see Psalm 149:4 KJV). Firstly, his people are those who are…his. We are his (born again/saved) if we have opened our heart and let Jesus in, confessed that Jesus is our Lord, and that God raised Jesus from the dead (see Romans 10:9).

The devil and all evil does not give up on keeping us in captivity just because we gave our lives to Christ. He continues to work through the carnal part of our mind while we take time to believe God’s Word AND Do it. (James 1:22-25).  We have to focus diligently on keeping our focus on Jesus and not on the many distractions of this world.

Romans 12:2 says that we need to be transformed by the renewing of our mind (reading, studying, meditating on, and DOING the Word of God). When we renew our mind on a given topic in the bible, our mind is no longer carnal in that area (it’s RENEWED/updated/fixed). In other words, we are no longer ignorant to that truth, and no longer think like the world things about that topic or act in ignorance.

Romans 8 (KJV)

For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.

For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

(bolded emphasis mine in verse 8 – it is possible for the born again believer to still walk in the flesh even though he be in Christ if he is focused/indulging on the things of the flesh/world).

We can see here in verse 7 that the carnal mind is enmity against God. God is against any thinking that does not line up with the Truth of the Word of God.

We should quickly accept that the remaining portion of our mind that is carnal is “our own worst enemy” and not just an enemy of God. Does God hate us because of this? No. He loves us, but we must not lean on our own understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6), but lean on God’s own understanding. We can find out what God’s understanding is by reading His Word and learning the Truth:

John 8:31-32 (KJV)

31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;

32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

We encourage you, precious soul, to commit that this new year should be focused on an increased dedication and becoming more disciplined in getting to know God the Father by spending time with him and his son Jesus with the help of the Holy Spirit. Listening, waiting upon the Lord, in quiet times in your day, and not only praying “to” him asking him for things. We look forward to being able to write more articles with revelation as a result of our own dedication to this with you.
