Summary
To forgive is just a word to some, but to others a verb. How can our words mean anything if the heart behind it is not love? 1 Corinthians 13 says, ” if I speak in tongues of men and of angels but do not have love, I become a noisy gong or a clinging symbol.”
When we just say the words, “I forgive”, but our heart does not really mean it, we are just making noise. If we support forgiveness with a life in pursuit of the love of Jesus, love will remain.
Staying hidden in Christ makes walking in love a lifestyle of remaining in love and forgiveness.
How is this even possible, remaining in forgiveness and love?
In 1 John 4v16 it says, “And we know (understand, recognize, are conscious of, by observation and by experience) and believe (adhere to and put faith in and rely on) the love God cherishes for us. God is love, and he who dwells and continues in love dwells and continues in God, and God dwells and continues in him.”
Forgiveness in love can be made easier by dwelling and consciously being aware of remaining in love through Christ. In this, the noisy empty, meaningless words will become love through Jesus Christ.
We also talk on being able to forgive others completely with the support of God’s grace.
