Luke 10:27 in the bible says,” 27 “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.”
For some people it is easier to pick out their neighbors. The selection process is often bias and the application process selective.
If we look at the end of the verse in Luke 10:27, it doesn’t seem to give choices. The verse simply states, ” Love your neighbor as yourself.”
If we break this down it can be viewed in a more helpful way.
The definition of neighbor is, (of a place or thing) to be situated next to or very near (another). Is it safe then to say that anyone near you is your neighbor? This being the case, God commands us to love our neighbor. If we are disciples of Jesus we must not just love those who likes us, but, those not the same, color, age, weight, income level, upbringing, and church. We must also love the lost, perverted, criminal, depressed, sinner and more. It is a process to adapt to for some. Especially if you have been taught to think differently. Loving someone can be a challenge but God says his goodness can cause people to turn away from a life without him. It’s never too late to forgive and love again. Give it a try. God won’t forsake you.
