The Word of God – Forever Settled in Heaven

Our amazing Father, the Most High God, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the Creator of the universe, and more importantly the Creator of YOU, has placed His own Word above His name.

Psalm 138:2 (NKJV)loveneverfails2

I will worship toward Your holy temple,
And praise Your name
For Your lovingkindness and Your truth;
For You have magnified Your word above all Your name.

While some of us may have had the bible on the shelf collecting dust, the Words inside the covers are truly living and are sharper than a two-edged sword (Heb 4:12)   But having the Word of God come alive in your life only works when you begin to believe them.  In particular, when one reads, understands and carries them out.

Carry what out?   A couple of examples are Jesus’ commandments:

Matthew 22:37-40 (NASB)

37 And He said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the great and foremost commandment. 39 The second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’40 On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets.”

The Word of God is so powerful, it is more than sufficient enough to change our lives for the better, but we must (1) believe it and (2) act on it.  It is not enough to simply read or even memorize the passage in Mark 16 on Jesus’ Great Commission where Jesus tells his disciples to:

“Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. 16 He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned. 17 These signs will accompany those who have believed: in My name they will cast out demons, they will speak with new tongues; 18 they will pick up serpents, and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

We do not see the sick getting healed by merely believing (or memorizing) this set of scriptures.   We have to actually go and do this, just as Jesus instructed and commanded us to!  Only then will we see the sick getting healed by Jesus and his Holy Spirit working through us.   Healing is but one example of seeing God’s hand at work through a believer who is willing for God to use him.

It is pointless showing up to church week after week, being a hearer and not a doer. That person is deceiving themselves. (James 1:22).

I encourage you today to spend more time in God’s Word.  You will help your mind become renewed quicker (Romans 12:2), and the enemy will have fewer ways to cause you to stumble since you will know better.  You will be able to enforce the defeat the devil has already suffered because by reading the Word, you who will know who you are in Christ (Gal 3:29; Col 1:27).

Be Blessed by your Father’s Word, and we thank you Jesus!  Hallelujah!

Pastor Marc
